Phase 3 Of The HCG Diet – The Maintenance Phase

After the HCG diet itself, I mean, after the Very Low Calorie Diet, when you only can eat up to 500 calories per day, Phase 3 comes into play. It is much more joyful and standable than the previous phase, because you are not limited in terms of the daily caloric intake. The only thing you need to keep in mind on Phase 3 of the HCG diet is, you should control how much starches and sugars you eat. In addition, you no longer have to take HCG drops for weight loss.
In the maintenance phase, also called stabilization phase of the HCG diet, or simply phase 3, you have to educate your body to keep the weight you’ve lost off. This can be done by already mentioned restricted daily intake of carbs. You will need to eat a lot of proteins, which will help you tone your muscle and also prevent you from hunger pangs.Foods To Eat In The Maintenance Phase
But we’re only going to eat healthy proteins from the right types of meat. You can eat any from the following:
1. Bacon
2. Beef jerky
3. Beef roast
4. Pork chops
5. Breakfast sausage
6. Elk
7. Ground beef
8. Prosciutto
9. Venison
10. Vienna sausage
11. Ham
12. Hot dogs (careful though, they are fatty)
13. Lamb
14. Liver
As you can see the variety of meats you can eat is much wider than on the very low calorie diet (VLCD). This comes in handy if you are sick of all the chicken you had to eat in phase 2.
As for carbohydrates, you have to be careful. Whenever you are going to eat anything that contains carbs (which is most of what you eat daily), you should make sure that the carbs contained are complex. Complex means they get released to blood slower than simple carbohydrates, such as table sugar (also known as sucrose or saccharose). Good sources of complex carbs include brown rice, pasta, oats, wholegrain foods, lentil, cous cous, etc.
As for fat, you should also be careful. Strive to eat only healthy fats, for example fats found in nuts (peanuts, hazelnuts, almonds, pistachios…). The nuts are better if they’re not roasted. Another healthy fat is olive oil, which you can add to vegetable salads, for example.
Don’t forget to weigh yourself daily. If you observe any rapid weight gain (2 lbs or more), you should revise your diet and make the needed changes.Foods To Avoid In Phase 3
There are also foods to avoid, which I’ve tried to list below:Vegetables
1. Beans (be careful with all kinds of beans due to the contained starch)
2. Artichoke, medium
3. Avocado
4. Beets
5. Butternut squash
6. Carrots
7. Celeriac
8. Corn
9. Leeks…Fruits
1. Banana, medium
2. Cherries
3. Grapes
4. Mangos
Please don’t think this list is complete, it’s just the foods that occurred to me right now. I’m also not advising you to avoid for example bananas completely, just keep in mind that they are sweeter than other fruits and should be eaten with caution.
